Silhouette is a timeless art form that has enchanted us for centuries. Popular since the mid 18th century, the term silhouette wasn’t often used to describe this style of art until the early 19th century. At that time, silhouettes were simply an outline with a normally featureless interior. Oh yes, one more important note, silhouette objects are traditionally black.

Here we are in the 21st century and technology has taken us far beyond the capabilities of a metal artisan of the past. With the advent of CNC cutting machines and a host of computer programs, metal silhouettes are now finely detailed, intricate pieces of artwork. Yes, it’s true this form of art is making a comeback in a big way!
